An ecoHaven Spring: 5 ways to make the most of the season in Hobart

Hooray for Spring! Although Hobart can still be a bit chilly in Spring, there's so many ways to enjoy and celebrate the season here.

1.Get yourself to the Botanical Gardens. Right now! In Spring, the gardens burst with growth and bare garden beds become a sea of colour and fragrance in a matter of weeks. Early October is usually the best season to see the tulips in action, but any time in Spring will not disappoint.

2. October 2-11 is National Organic Week, held Australia-wide to help raise awareness about the benefits of eating and farming organically. In spirit of the season that celebrates new beginnings (and delicious, fresh produce), it's the perfect opportunity to introduce some organic produce into your lifestyle. Finding organic foods in Hobart is just a trip to Farmgate Market or City Organics. Speaking of which, we might see you there this weekend!

3. Market shopping. Spring brings with it a bunch of great design markets in and around Hobart, showcasing the talents of local designers. We love the opportunity to pick up something handmade and unique direct from the maker and it's such a good feeling knowing that you're supporting the local creative community. Hopefully you'll be able to make it to The Barn Market in Rosny on the 19th of September, The Market in Hobart on the 20th or to Design Garage Artisan Market in Howrah on the 4th of October.

4. Explore Kunanyi/Mount Wellington. Our beloved mountain often gets a little neglected once the snow has melted, but Spring is the perfect season to explore it. Go for a wander amongst the moss and ferns, have a coffee at the Springs, go wildlife spotting, take in the view from the top or go mountain bike riding along its many tracks.

5. Brunch. Sweet or savoury, AM or PM, brunch has to be our favourite meal. Okay, so we understand that you can have brunch any time of the year, but now is the chance to enjoy it alfresco. Instead of crowding inside a cafe with dripping umbrellas and coats taking up valuable table space. Imagine dining outside at 11am, leisurely sipping a latte and enjoying the sunshine. What could be better?

Our favourites are Room for a Pony in North Hobart (sit outside and bring your dog along!), Machine Laundry Cafe in Salamanca, Ginger Brown in South Hobart and Pigeon Hole in West Hobart, although we could easily list 20 more!

Spring in Hobart sure is gorgeous! We hope you get the chance to enjoy the season.
